I worked in academic publishing before deciding to enter the field of special collections librarianship, and I now work in the Rare Book Division at New York Public Library. I was drawn to the field by opportunities to explore the history and craft of books from the hand press era and to work with researchers who use these resources. And while I love working with the physical artifacts in the collection, I'm just as interested in how digital environments can allow unique research materials to have new lives, to reach more users, and to be used in new ways.

When I'm not thinking about the past and future of books and their readers, I like to make things. I'm @handmadelibrary on twitter.
